Farid’s litigation practice involves the defence of a wide array of claims focused on bodily injury arising out of motor vehicle accidents (accident benefits and tort) and occupiers’ liability, property damage, product liability, and commercial host liability. He further has expertise in accident benefits priority disputes between insurers, accident benefits loss transfer, coverage, and subrogation.

In the past, Farid has acted for plaintiffs in a host of personal injury (motor vehicle accidents, slip/trip & falls, assault, dog bites), private and group policy disability benefits disputes, defamation, and wrongful dismissal matters.

Farid has appeared before the Court of Appeal for Ontario, the Ontario Superior Court of Justice, Small Claims Court, the Licence Appeal Tribunal (LAT), the Social Benefits Tribunal (SBT), Landlord & Tenant Board, the Ontario Court of Justice provincial offences court, the Workplace Safety and Insurance Appeals Tribunal (WSIAT), and routinely attends private mediations, arbitrations, and court-mandated conferences.

Farid obtained his Bachelor of Medical Sciences (Honours) degree from Western University and his Juris Doctor from the University of Windsor. He is fluent in Farsi (Persian).

Reported Decisions

Integrated Team Solutions PCH Partnership v. Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd., 2025 ONCA 297 (CanLII) – Successfully defeated the co-defendants’ appeal to stay the proceeding on the basis that Ontario lacks jurisdiction, that Ontario is forum non conveniens, and the enforcement of a forum selection clause.

Toor v. Zenith Insurance Company, 2025 CanLII 42707 (ON LAT) – Successfully defended the insurer’s MIG position and claims for medical/rehabilitation and non-earner benefits.

Kesavan v. TD General Insurance Company, 2023 CanLII 122878 (ON LAT) – Successfully challenged the insurer’s preliminary issue seeking bar of the client’s application for medical and rehabilitation benefits for failure to commence an application within two years of the insurer’s refusal to pay the amount claimed.

Ramcharran v. Aviva General Insurance Company, 2023 CanLII 52435 (ON LAT) – Successfully challenged the insurer’s MIG position and secured the client’s claim for a psychological assessment and services.

Kha v. Security National Insurance Company, 2023 CanLII 84379 (ON LAT) – Successfully defended the insurer’s MIG position and claims for medical/rehabilitation benefits and costs of examinations.

Carreiro v. Wawanesa Insurance, 2022 CanLII 8662 (ON LAT) – Successfully defended the insurer’s MIG position and claims for medical/rehabilitation benefits and costs of examinations.

Goncalves v. Wawanesa Insurance, 2021 CanLII 104415 (ON LAT) – Successfully raised a preliminary issue barring the claimant’s application to proceed to a hearing on the issue of income replacement benefits for failure to attend insurer’s examinations.

Cohen v. Security National Insurance Company, 2020 CanLII 94795 (ON LAT) – Successfully defended the claim for a medical benefit.

U.P. v. Security National Insurance Company, 2020 CanLII 45495 (ON LAT) – Successfully defended the insurer’s MIG position and claims for medical/rehabilitation benefits.

C.K. v. Security National Insurance Company, 2020 CanLII 51280 (ON LAT) – Successfully defended the insurer’s MIG position and claims for medical/rehabilitation benefits and cost of an examination.
